“I have always been fascinated with woodblock prints done in the folk tradition! The Japanese printmaker Shiko Munakata, in particular, struck a deep chord with his simple motifs of daily village life.”

During the summer of 2007, while living in Cortona, Italy as an artist-in-residence for the University of Georgia, Mike had the opportunity to create his first series of woodblock prints.

The prints themselves are done in series of thirty to one hundred, on high-quality archival paper with oil-based etching ink. Each print is signed dated and numbered.

Mike sincerely hopes that the joy he found in making these woodcuts will go home with each and every print!
